Park Entrance Fees


Entrance fees are separate from parking and shuttle reservations. Visitors are strongly encouraged to purchase their entrance fees in advance to decrease waiting times and person to person contact.

When you might not want to pay in advance:
  • You or someone accompanying you has a valid Muir Woods annual pass or one of the other National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass (more information below).
  • You or someone accompanying you plans to purchase one of these annual passes at the entrance upon arrival.
  • You want to pay entry fees in person using Apple Pay, cash, or card.
  • You are not yet certain how many people will be visiting Muir Woods with your group.
Seniors, active duty military members or dependents, individuals with a permanent disability, veterans, Gold Star families, and fourth graders may be eligible for free or discounted passes.

Annual Passes

The following park passes allow pass holders and up to three other adults to enter Muir Woods free of charge. These passes can be purchased upon arrival at the Muir Woods Visitor Center. If you purchase physical passes on-line, allow sufficient time for delivery. Confirmation letters, credit card receipts, and photos of passes are not accepted for entry. America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Pass

Annual Pass - $80

Valid for one full year from month of purchase (through last day of that month). The Annual Pass provides access to more than 2,000 recreation areas managed by five Federal agencies, with up to 100% of the proceeds being used to improve and enhance visitor recreation services.

Annual Pass - Current U.S. Military – Free

The Annual Pass is free for current US military members and their dependents in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, as well as most members of the US Reserves and National Guard. Proper military ID is required (CAC Card or DoD Form 1173).

Lifetime Pass - U.S. Military Veterans and Gold Star Families - Free

The Lifetime Pass is free for US military veterans who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, including Reserves and the National Guard. Proper military ID is required (CAC Card, VHIC, etc.). Gold Star Families are also eligible after self-certifying through the website linked above.

Annual Senior Pass - $20

For U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over. Photo identification may be required. Valid for one full year from month of purchase (through last day of that month). The Annual Senior Pass provides access to more than 2,000 recreation areas managed by five Federal agencies, with up to 100% of the proceeds being used to improve and enhance visitor recreation services.

Lifetime Senior Pass - $80

For U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over. Photo identification may be required. The Lifetime Senior Pass provides access to more than 2,000 recreation areas managed by five Federal agencies, with up to 100% of the proceeds being used to improve and enhance visitor recreation services.

Access Pass - Free

A free, lifetime pass, available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability (does not have to be a 100% disability), that provides admittance to more than 2,000 recreation sites managed by five Federal agencies. Photo identification may be required.

Fourth Grade Student Pass – Free

A free Annual Pass is available to U.S. 4th grade students (including home-schooled and free-choice learners 10 years of age) with a printed voucher from the Every Kid in a Park website. Students may not receive a pass without a valid voucher.

Volunteer Pass – Free

A free volunteer pass is issued to volunteers who accrue 250 volunteer hours that have been pre-approved by the Volunteer Coordinator. The volunteer pass is issued by the Federal Volunteer Coordinator/Manager who authorizes that a volunteer has accrued 250 hours.
